The Canby Education Foundation is pleased to announce that its project to provide voice amplification systems in each classroom from kindergarten through eighth grade was completed during the summer of 2008. Providing these systems has been a goal of the foundation since the first four amplification systems were installed at Trost Elementary School in December 2003.

The amplification systems provide the teacher with a microphone worn around the neck.  Speakers on the classroom walls amplify his or her voice so that students throughout the room can hear, whether they are sitting in the front or at the back of the room.  An additional

microphone in each room gives students the opportunity to develop speaking and presentation skills.  The devices have been well received throughout the district as a means to improve student attentiveness and participation.

In total, more than 100 systems have been provided by the foundation with grant funds to Canby’s public schools exceeding $110,000 for this effort. The foundation acknowledges with gratitude the generous donations from community individuals and businesses which have enabled the foundation to complete this five year project.
