Classroom
Amplification Systems
Classroom amplification systems are audio
system devices used to raise teacher's voices 10 - 15 dB above the general
noise level in the classroom. The systems are wireless and infrared with a
microphone worn on a lanyard around the teacher's neck. "Classroom
amplification systems have been used around the country for over 30 years,
and have a large body of research demonstrating their efficiency," states
Leah Chelius, Speech Language Pathologist at Trost Elementary School.
In 2003 an action research project was
conducted to look at the effectiveness of the systems that had been placed
into Trost
Elementary classrooms. Some of these results were astounding:
·
43% reduction in student
off-task behaviors;
·
72% reduction of teacher
redirections and student behaviors;
·
Increased growth over students
in un-amplified classrooms demonstrated on the DIBELS, DRA and TESA tests in
grades 1, 3 and 4; and
·
Overwhelming positive response
from teachers regarding classroom atmosphere, voice fatigue, student use of
microphones to enhance reading fluency, etc.
For more information regarding
these systems, please contact us at
